Chemnitz-based UDI-Bioenergie GmbH recently agreed to sell four state-of-the-art biomethane processing plants to the DAH Group, an integrated agricultural and energy company headquartered in Oranienburg. The DAH Group specializes in the production of biogas, biomethane, electricity, and heat from renewable sources. The plants, located in Torgelow (Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania), Erdeborn (Saxony-Anhalt), Raitzen, and Thierbach (Saxony), were constructed between 2015 and 2018 and stand as prime examples of the successful expansion of bioenergy in Germany. The transaction is still subject to approval by the German Federal Cartel Office.

Strategic Focus: Innovation and Sustainable Transformation

With the sale, UDI-Bioenergie is consistently pursuing its strategic realignment: targeted investment in innovative projects and new technologies in the field of renewable energy.
“We want to actively shape the future of bioenergy – with flexible concepts, new feedstocks, and technological solutions. The sale gives us the necessary leeway to explore new paths,” says Moustafa Amet, Managing Director of UDI-Bioenergie. He adds that the decision marks an important milestone for the company:
“We are pooling our resources for new projects – from further development of our existing sites to pioneering initiatives involving alternative substrates or power-to-gas technologies.”

Efficient Plants with a Strong Contribution to Climate Protection

The four plants sold generate approximately 220 million kilowatt-hours of biomethane per year. Statistically, this amount covers the average annual heating demand of around 16,000 households. By feeding this renewable gas into the natural gas grid, the plants also save about 55,000 tons of CO₂ annually compared to fossil fuels – equivalent to the emissions of roughly 25,000 cars – thereby making a significant contribution to climate protection.

After the sale, UDI-Bioenergie will retain biomethane processing plants with a total capacity of around 480 million kWh. The company therefore remains one of the key players in the German biomethane sector.

Strong Partnership – New Impulses for the Energy Transition

With the DAH Group, an experienced energy sector partner is taking over the four facilities. UDI-Bioenergie extends its thanks to all employees, partners, and investors who contributed to the successful development and operation of the plants.

UDI-Bioenergie remains committed to its core mission: to actively help expand renewable energy in Germany and develop solutions for a sustainable energy future.
